General information

  • All information is provisional and subject to change. The instructions and routes on race day apply.
  • The Zytturm Triathlon is a non-drafting race. The road traffic regulations apply at all times. The only exception is that the road may be used at all times, even if a cycle path is available.
  • You will receive your swim cap when you collect your race number. There is a new sponsor this year and therefore we are unfortunately not allowed to reuse the swim caps from previous years.
  • There is little space in the transition area. No bags etc. are allowed in the transition area.
  • Depot for bags
  • It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the transition area to the swim start.
  • Limited number of toilets and showers in the Badi Seeliken (Start Swim). Additional toilets in the transition area.
  • Rolling start on the swim course (2 people every 6 seconds).
  • Littering is prohibited on all routes and at all times. Infringement = immediate disqualification
  • Aerobars are prohibited on the Bachtalen descent. Hands must be on both brakes at all times. Infringement = immediate disqualification
  • Start of the bike course for Olympic distance and relay teams with a slight uphill section; shift into low gear at check-in.
  • Wheel check-out is announced via loudspeaker.
  • If possible, pick up your starting documents on Saturday.

Danger spots

The map on the left shows the known danger spots and roundabouts on the cycle route.

We would like to emphasise in particular:

  • Turn left for Olympic, straight ahead for Short at km 14 in Rifferswil after a slight downhill section.
  • Narrow Wängibadstrasse on the long stretch after about 20 kilometres. Always ride on the far right and watch out for oncoming traffic
  • Bachtalen descent after about 31 km (Olympic) or 24 km (Short). Both hands must be on the brakes at all times (no aerobars). The immediately following right-hand bend is downhill and “closes”. Brake early and hard.
  • Narrow roads between Blickensdorf (directly after the Bachtalen exit) and Steinhausen. Always ride on the far right and watch out for any oncoming traffic

The following points also apply in general:

  • The road traffic regulations apply, as you are travelling in normal road traffic.
  • Take care of yourself and the traffic around you.
  • Cobblestones on the last 200 metres of the bike course
  • Shunting cars in the harbour and Brüggli area

Neutralisation

After approx. 37km (Olym) or 30km (Short) there is a red timing mat in the bus lane on Steinhauserstrasse in the direction of Zugersee. This mat is red and clearly visible (see below for an example). We will have a person on site to make sure it works. In the map on the right we have marked where the timing mat will be located.

After crossing the mat, there is a time window of 10 minutes in which you have to be at the dismount line. The route is approx. 2.5 km long and has 2 traffic lights that must be observed.

The time between the neutralisation start and the dismount line is not counted and is subtracted exactly from the total time. If you take longer than 10 minutes, all times over 10 minutes will be added to your total time.

If you miss the neutralisation start, you will be deducted a flat rate of 3 minutes.

Olympic distance

No further information on the above.

Short distance
  • All information in the Olympic distance section
  • The start of the running lap goes through the transition zone for the Olympic distance
  • CheckIn Procedure
Season
  • All information in the Olympic distance section

Check-In

  • Only the cyclist checks into the large transition area (Olympic); the relay area is at the back near the exit to the bike course.
  • All other team participants are outside the transition zone or in the cordoned-off area for the teams.
  • After check-in, the cyclist must leave the transition zone again

Race

  • Only the athletes who are competing themselves are in the transition zone
  • The chip handover from the swimmer to the cyclist takes place outside the transition zone in handover area 1
  • The cyclist runs to his bike after handing over the chip and runs out of the transition zone
  • After the cycle lap, the cyclist puts his bike back in the bike stand
  • He then runs to hand over the chip in handover area 2 and hands it over to the runner

Check-Out

  • The cyclist collects his bike only after the transition area has been released for check-out
  • To do this, he must take his start number with him

FAQ

  • Will I get a special bag for the luggage depot? No, you can bring your own bag to the depot and we store it for you. Make it easy for us and keep it small, light, and mark it with your bib number.
  • What happens in bad weather and thunderstorms? There is no one-size-fits-all answer. There are different scenarios that we can’t explain; wait and see, shortened swim course, bike run, Our top priority is the safety of every single person. We decide according to the situation and communicate decisions via all available channels.
  • Will I get my money back if I cancel on the day of the event? No. We have already paid all expenses and want to hold the event. If we cancel/cancel it, it is not due to us, but to an external (unexpected) event.
