Statement on the shortened swim course:

At the Triathlon Standard Series (Olympic distance) there was a mishap with the swim course. The course was not 1.5km as planned, but only just 900m long. While placing the outermost buoy, an anchor weight came loose. This had to be replaced by an improvised part as quickly as possible. Due to the time stress, the distances could no longer be adjusted. To make matters worse, the setting of the buoys had to be done in the dark for the first time this year, due to the postponement to late summer. The swim course was therefore much too short, but of equal length for all athletes and therefore fair. We very much regret the incident and formally apologise to the athletes who were affected by this. We will make every effort to ensure that this does not happen again in the future and thank you for your understanding.
